Fanless Industrial Mini PC with Dual LAN and SIM Slot | MPC-2022

A connected service cabinet has to do more than run a local application. It may need to separate service traffic from machine traffic, expose several serial connections, store local data and still fit a compact enclosure that a technician can reach. MPC-2022 is a strong candidate to evaluate when that architecture needs a small fanless Industrial Computer rather than a standard desktop box. MPC-2022 uses an Intel Celeron J1900 quad-core processor with 4 GB onboard DDR3L memory, and its fanless all-in-one enclosure design gives the cabinet team a defined starting point.

The network and service question is equally concrete. MPC-2022 provides one RS232/RS485 port, three RS232 ports, four USB 2.0 ports, VGA, HDMI, and two Gigabit LAN ports. That does not prove a carrier, protocol or remote-service workflow, but it gives a project enough physical structure to start a serious configuration conversation with Univitech.

Why a Connected Service Cabinet Needs a Network Plan

Many service-cabinet projects begin with a vague requirement such as “remote access.” That phrase can mean a maintenance laptop connection, a separate machine network, a local operator display, a cellular backhaul or a combination of all four. Treating every path as one undifferentiated network is how a compact cabinet becomes difficult to troubleshoot.

MPC-2022’s two Gigabit LAN ports let the buyer evaluate a separated network architecture. One port may be considered for a machine-side path while another is reserved for a service or plant-side path, subject to the actual topology and security review. This is an architecture hypothesis, not a guarantee of routing, firewall, VLAN or application behavior. The buyer should send the intended traffic roles and software stack with the RFQ.

Two network ports are valuable only when the project assigns them a job. A machine builder can map one path to local equipment and another to a maintenance or plant network. A service-platform designer may instead use one path for a controlled gateway and reserve the second for commissioning. Both are plausible evaluation scenarios; neither should be presented as a completed MPC-2022 deployment.

Write the traffic map before selecting software. Identify which data stays local, which messages leave the cabinet, how a technician is authenticated and what happens when the service path is unavailable. If a cellular module is part of the plan, define carrier, antenna location, SIM policy and fallback behavior. Univitech can review the changed requirement and explore a configuration; it should not be treated as a guaranteed network result before engineering confirmation.

Use Serial and USB Paths for the Maintenance Package

The one RS232/RS485 port and three RS232 ports create a useful starting point for service instruments, controllers or legacy devices that still expose serial interfaces. The four USB 2.0 ports can be considered for local peripherals, removable service tools or commissioning accessories. The exact device protocol, isolation, driver and cable requirements remain project questions.

This is where an inquiry becomes commercially useful. Send a simple port map: device name, interface, connector, baud-rate or protocol assumption, cable length, isolation requirement and whether the device is permanent or temporary. The team can then confirm whether the standard configuration is enough or whether a tailored I/O, enclosure or software discussion is more appropriate.

Treat SIM, Storage and Mounting as One Cabinet Decision

MPC-2022 includes one full-size Mini-PCIe slot and one 3G SIM card slot. That combination makes it a credible candidate for connected service-cabinet planning, but a SIM slot is not the same as a carrier approval or a working remote-service system. Confirm the module, antenna, carrier, application, operating system and regional requirements together.

Storage is just as important. mSATA and 2.5-inch SATA storage support gives the project more than one local-data planning path. Decide whether the cabinet stores logs, diagnostic packages, a recovery image or a local application cache. Then review replacement access and retention policy before the enclosure is frozen.

The 243 x 144 x 66 mm dimensions and 2 kg weight also make the mounting conversation tangible. Desktop or wall mounting may suit different service positions, but the cabinet drawing must confirm support, orientation, rear clearance and cable bend space.

Keep DC Power and Service Access Explicit

MPC-2022 uses 9-30 V DC input through a 2-pin Phoenix connector. That gives a cabinet builder a clear input condition to place beside the rest of the DC distribution plan. Confirm the actual supply, protection, grounding, startup sequence and service isolation with the complete cabinet.

Fanless all-in-one enclosure design can simplify the component-count conversation, but it does not remove the need to review heat paths, dust strategy and access for storage or expansion work. A service team should be able to reach the computer, identify the network paths and replace the intended storage or module without dismantling unrelated equipment.

Configuration Reference

Model scope: MPC-2022 only. Reference type: Univitech official product detail, reviewed July 2026. This guide covers the documented compute, I/O, storage, expansion, mounting and DC-input configuration; carrier, antenna, protocol, software, environment and cabinet integration require technical confirmation.

Request a Connected Service-Cabinet Review

Share the network traffic map, carrier or SIM requirement, serial-device list, storage policy, mounting drawing, DC supply, operating system, quantity, destination and documentation needs. If the service workflow needs a different module, I/O set, enclosure or software path, request a customised configuration discussion. Univitech can review the changed requirement and explore an option without representing feasibility, performance or delivery as guaranteed before evaluation.

Frequently Asked QuestionsIs MPC-2022 a fit for a connected service cabinet?

It is a strong candidate when the compact fanless form, dual LAN, serial I/O, storage, mounting and 9-30 V DC conditions match the cabinet plan.

Does MPC-2022 include a SIM slot?

It includes one full-size Mini-PCIe slot and one 3G SIM card slot. Module, carrier, antenna and software fit require project validation.

Can the two LAN ports be assigned to different networks?

They provide two physical Gigabit LAN paths to evaluate. The actual topology, routing, security policy and application behavior must be confirmed for the project.

What storage choices are available?

mSATA and 2.5-inch SATA storage support are documented. Capacity, write pattern and recovery requirements should be included in the RFQ.

Can the mounting or I/O configuration change?

Univitech can review changed I/O, expansion, mounting, power, enclosure or software requirements without a feasibility guarantee before review.
