NEW YORK – September 03, 2026 – Apateon Press today announced that it has acquired the publishing rights to The Bull$hit of Race and the Power of E Pluribus Unum by Richard A. Wayner. This provocative new book examines the origins of race in America and argues for a renewed emphasis on a shared American identity. The book is expected to debut in the late Fall of 2026.
Written on the occasion of the United States’ 250th anniversary, The Bull$hit of Race and the Power of E Pluribus Unum traces the development of race as a social and political organizing system from the colonial era through the Constitution, the Civil War and Reconstruction, and the Civil Rights Movement. Wayner, a proud father of four children ages 11-21, small business advisor and an impact investor in emerging American markets, argues that the United States has repeatedly confronted the contradiction between its founding promise of equality and the use of racial categories to divide its citizens, but has repeatedly compromised rather than fully resolving that contradiction.
At the heart of the book is a simple question: What are we building?
Wayner contends that America’s extraordinary potential comes not from its citizens being alike, but from their ability to combine different backgrounds, cultures, experiences, and talents around a common purpose. He sees E Pluribus Unum (“Out of many, one”) not merely as a historical motto from the American Revolution, but as a North Star for America’s future.
“The challenge is not whether Americans can come from different places. The challenge is whether Americans can arrive at the same destination,” said Wayner. “For 250 years, we have compromised with race. The future cannot be built on permanent division. America has already proven what we can accomplish when we operate as one people. Now we need the courage to decide what we are building together.”
The book uses examples ranging from the American economy and immigration to the U.S. Olympic team and the armed forces to make its central argument: Americans are one people, who have extraordinary power when aligned around a common mission.
“Richard Wayner has written a book that is deliberately provocative because the subject demands a provocative conversation,” said Hugh Taylor, President of Apateon Press. “Whether readers agree with every argument in this book or not, they will be challenged to think differently about race, identity, history, and what it means to be an American. At Apateon Press, we believe books should do more than confirm what readers already believe. They should start important conversations. This book has the potential to do exactly that.”
