High Five, AI Recruitment Platform for SEA Talent, Adds Built-In Skills Assessments to Its Hiring Platform
High Five’s Newest Assessments Feature
Employers can now test shortlisted candidates on specific competencies, and review scored results for each candidate before any interview.

High Five, a hiring platform serving companies that recruit talent across Southeast Asia, today added an assessments module that lets employers test shortlisted candidates on specific job competencies before scheduling interviews. The module is built into the platform, so a hiring team can select candidates from a shortlist, choose a competency such as Node.js, generate a test in minutes and review scored results candidate by candidate in one place. It is available to subscribers across the platform’s five core Southeast Asian markets, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines and Singapore.

The workflow runs in four steps. An employer selects candidates from an existing shortlist, picks the competencies to evaluate, sends the assessment, and reviews each result individually. Because the tests are generated and scored inside High Five, hiring teams compare candidates on the exact skills a role requires rather than on how a resume is written.

“A resume tells you what someone says they can do. An assessment shows whether they can,” said Chris Gunawan, CEO at High Five. “A hiring team can take a shortlist, choose the competency a role depends on, set the test up in minutes and read the scores side by side.”

Companies hiring in Southeast Asia often work through recruitment agencies that charge success fees of 15 to 25 percent of a new hire’s first-year salary, according to High Five. Skills checks usually happen late, during interviews or through take-home tasks that each employer builds on its own. The assessments module moves that step earlier and keeps it in one place, which is intended to shorten the gap between shortlist and decision. High Five delivers shortlisted candidates to employers on a weekly basis, and assessments now sit alongside that shortlist so teams can act on skill evidence as candidates arrive.

“Hiring usually screens people out on paper before anyone sees how they work,” said Gunawan. “Moving that judgment onto the work itself is what reimagining hiring means to us.”

The assessments module is available to active High Five subscribers within the platform’s existing flat monthly subscription, which provides one active search at a time with no placement or success fees. Subscriptions can be paused or cancelled at any time. High Five’s customers include Hupo, Cinch, Agridence, Nafas, PayMongo and SkinSeoul.
