Get the facts on the Charter Millage Proposal.

HARRISON, Mich. – October 26, 2026 – Teola Lutsker is a candidate for the Mid Michigan College Board of Trustees in the November 3, 2026 election, just over a week away. She is making transparency in how the college uses public funds her top priority, alongside educational access for rural communities and workforce development tied to local jobs.

Vote for Teola Lutsker for Mid Michigan College Board of Trustees. Voters in the Beaverton, Clare, Farwell, Gladwin, Harrison and Mt. Pleasant public school districts, which make up the Mid Michigan College district, will see the race on their ballots. Early voting is open through Nov. 1, and polls are open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Election Day, Nov. 3.

Those voters will also decide the Mid Michigan College Charter Millage Proposal, commonly called the Headlee Override. The Charter Millage Proposal is a separate question from the Board race, and Lutsker has compiled sourced research on the Headlee Override so voters can review the facts before they vote.

Teola Lutsker’s Priorities for Mid Michigan College

Transparent Governance: Bringing accountability to how the college manages its budget, priorities and decisions, so students and taxpayers alike can trust where resources are going.

Rural Access: Helping every prospective student across rural mid-Michigan see Mid Michigan College as a valuable next step, whether through dual enrollment, a career change, a transfer or returning to school.

Workforce & Community Partnership: Building strong, direct relationships with local employers, businesses and community organizations, so college programs align with the jobs and opportunities that actually exist here.

Transparency Starts With the Facts on the Charter Millage Proposal

“Transparency is my top priority for Mid Michigan College, and it starts with giving taxpayers the facts. With the Charter Millage Proposal on the ballot, I wanted to understand more than the numbers, so I researched where the college’s 1.5 mills began, how the millage history has changed, how property tax revenue has changed over time, and how the proposal affects property taxes for taxpayers in Mid Michigan. If you pay property taxes in the Mid Michigan College district, you deserve the whole picture,” said Teola Lutsker.

Check out the Teola Lutsker campaign website for more information on the Mid Michigan College Charter Millage Proposal.

Rural Access at Mid Michigan College

The timing matters. Michigan Reconnect lowered its eligibility age to 21 this year, and the Community College Guarantee serves eligible recent high school graduates. Together, these programs offer more adult learners and graduates a path to an associate degree or skills certificate with tuition assistance.

“An opportunity only matters if people know it exists, and someone balancing work and family may not know where to begin. I want prospective students across rural mid-Michigan, not just in our home district, to see Mid Michigan College as a valuable next step. With satellite locations and online classes, we are closer than many people realize,” said Lutsker.

Workforce & Community Partnership at Mid Michigan College

“The best ideas come when people with different experiences sit at the same table. A small business may need employees with specialized skills. A school counselor may see students who would benefit from technical training. A nonprofit may work with adults who want to return to college but are unsure about financial help. I want Mid Michigan College to build direct relationships with local employers, businesses and community organizations, so what we hear shapes our outreach, workforce development and career training,” said Lutsker.

How to vote and get involved

Residents of the Beaverton, Clare, Farwell, Gladwin, Harrison and Mt.
