The new solution must work with the existing doors, mortise dimensions and previous door preparation, while minimizing additional drilling or modification.

For a recent 64-room hotel renovation project in Morocco, our local partner needed to upgrade existing Saflok MtmT hotel locks to a more modern access solution.

UNITK Echo 100, combined with a compatible 70mm backset ANSI mortise and the TTHotel system, provided a practical retrofit solution.

Project Overview

Location: MoroccoProject Type: Hotel RenovationRooms: 64Lock Model: UNITK Echo 100Mortise: 70mm Backset ANSI MortiseExisting Lock: Saflok MtmTSystem: TTHotelUnlocking: Mobile APP + RFID Card + Mechanical Key

The Challenge: Upgrading Existing Hotel Doors

Hotel renovation projects often face one important question:

Can the old electronic locks be replaced without making major changes to the existing doors?

The doors in this project were already prepared for Saflok MtmT hotel locks. Completely changing the door preparation would increase installation work, project time and renovation costs.

For this reason, mortise compatibility became one of the key considerations when selecting the replacement lock.

70mm Backset ANSI Mortise for Direct Replacement

UNITK Echo 100 was paired with a 70mm backset ANSI mortise suitable for the existing door configuration.

The mortise uses a reversed configuration that matches the requirements of this retrofit project. This allowed the new locking solution to fit the existing door preparation without additional drilling for the mortise installation.

For hotel renovation projects, this can make a significant difference.

Instead of extensively modifying or replacing existing doors, the hotel can retain its current doors while upgrading the electronic access system.

Key Retrofit Benefits

70mm backset ANSI mortise

Compatible with the existing project door preparation

No additional mortise drilling required for this installation

Reduced modification to existing hotel doors

Faster and more practical retrofit

Modern electronic access management

Upgrade the lock, not the door.

UNITK Echo 100 for Hotel Renovation

Echo 100 is a classic electronic hotel lock designed for reliable daily hotel operation.

For this Morocco project, its dimensions and configuration made it suitable for upgrading the existing hotel doors while maintaining a clean appearance after installation.

The lock works with the TTHotel hotel access management system, providing hotels with a straightforward way to move from an older electronic locking system to modern digital access management.

A Practical Approach to Hotel Lock Retrofit

There is no single hotel lock that fits every renovation project.

Before recommending a replacement solution, several details should be checked:

Existing lock model → Mortise dimensions → Backset → Door thickness → Existing cut-outs → New lock dimensions → Access management requirements

This is particularly important when replacing older hotel locking systems.

For this 64-room project in Morocco, the combination of UNITK Echo 100 + 70mm ANSI mortise + TTHotel allowed the property to retain its existing doors while moving toward a more modern access solution.

Same doors. Smarter access.

Looking for a Hotel Lock Replacement Solution?

If you are planning to replace existing electronic hotel locks, send us photos and dimensions of the current lock, mortise and door.

UNITK can help evaluate the existing door configuration and recommend a suitable hotel lock retrofit solution.

Email: unilock@163.comWebsite: www.unitklock.com

About Us

At UNITK, we believe that a smart lock is more than just a door lock it is the foundation of a seamless hospitality experience.
