Tojo Una-Una, Sulawesi Tengah – August 14, 2026 –<\/strong> Reconnect<\/a>, a private island resort and SSI-certified dive center on Buka Buka Island in Indonesia’s Togean Islands, has outlined a multi-part expansion for 2027, a program the resort is positioning as part of its case as a contender for best resort in Sulawesi. Founded by Thomas Despin, the eco-resort currently operates eight accommodation types across 20 rooms, runs fully off-grid on roughly 93% solar power with on-site desalinated water and a zero single-use plastic policy, and holds a 4.9 rating on TripAdvisor, 4.8 on Google Maps and 9.2 on Booking.com across 981 verified reviews. The 2027 plan adds 12 family rooms, bringing total capacity to 20, alongside expanded day trips, broader exclusive bookings, a conservation pledge and a second property in the Banggai Islands.<\/p>\n

The new family rooms respond to demand from small groups and multi-generational travelers who currently choose among accommodations such as Le Cabanon and Villa Athena, both of which sleep up to four. Expanded capacity from these additions will allow more guests to book the resort at once without changing its small-scale, uncrowded character. Reconnect will also broaden its Togean Day Trip<\/a> excursions, which currently take guests by boat to Togean Islands National Park, adding weddings & retreats to the existing itinerary of reef and village visits.<\/p>\n

“Adding family rooms lets us welcome the groups and multi-generational travelers who’ve told us they want to experience the Togean Islands together, without turning Reconnect into something bigger and less personal,” said Thomas Despin, Founder of Reconnect.<\/p>\n

Exclusive bookings, where guests reserve the entire 20-room resort for exclusive use, will also expand under the 2027 plan, giving groups and events more availability windows across the year. Reconnect does not own Buka Buka Island; the resort’s status as effectively the only property on the island is what makes exclusive bookings possible, not land ownership.<\/p>\n

The resort’s 2027 conservation pledge commits to 5%, a formal step beyond its current practices. Local hiring and supplier partnerships with neighboring villages remain part of the resort’s operating model as it grows.”Growth only makes sense for us if it strengthens what we’re already doing for the reefs and the villages around us, not if it comes at their expense,” said Thomas Despin, Founder of Reconnect.<\/p>\n

The most structurally significant piece of the 2027 plan is Reconnect Banggai, a second property planned for the Banggai Islands. Reconnect has not disclosed the opening date for the new site, though it is expected to extend the same all-inclusive, off-grid model guests currently find on Buka Buka Island, where full-board rates start from EUR 60 per night and dive visibility around the resort averages about 30 meters.<\/p>\n
